I was wondering what you guys thought was tougher:
500 in 1:13 1min rest 42sec 300
600 in 1:28 1 min rest 30 sec 200
Also what do you think each would predict for an 800. This would be for a 400/800 guy (50.X 400)

Also know as the Perfect Indy workout.
500 + 300 (less than 40sec recovery for someone running this fast) . For many this can be a good predictor of 800m performance, as long as the set is done solo.
While I don't have a problem with the 600+200 (would take 30sec recovery), It can be tougher to mentally handle, and a single 600-700m might serve the same purpose.
That 1 minute isn't recovery in a workout like that. The pH drop from all-out sprints is so severe that it continues for several minutes afterwards. You're worse off after that 1 minute than if you just kept running.
Of course, if you run 50 flat, 1:13 is pretty slow, thus you still managed to speed up after that 1 minute. The 1:28 is better but you could probably still have continued in 30 seconds without stopping. Everyone is scared to do an 800 time trial.
A 54 400 guy could do those workouts, so neither predicts anything other than sub 2.
The 500/300 is harder.
I'd say you're in 1:57-1:58 shape.
