Here's a a sceneriao. You've just graduated with prs of 1:48, 3:38 and 13:20. Obviously good times but not quiet world class. In high school and college the 1500 has been your main event. College mileage 70-90.
You've decided to put off the real world and go for it. What's your next step? What distances are you focusing on? How long do you go for it.
I would start the summer training as a 10,000m runner with my immediate focus on XC, long term focus on marathon. Since XC is somewhat watered down I feel like I could make my mark and make the U.S. team. After XC I'd turn my attention to the roads until track starts up. During track I would race a few 5000s and a couple 1500s. With the goal of a sub 28 10000. After cracking 28 I'd turn my attention to the marathon and qualifying for the Olympics.
How about you guys? 3:38/13:20 is probably below average for everyone here so you'll have to imagine being slower than you are.
