Think about it. Cookies, ice cream, chineese food, pizza, he ate all that while training. Probably slowed him down and derailed his career.

How does that slow him down? Evidence?
With more whole fruits veggies and grains
Instead of junk food and fast food, Webb might have retained some hair of rich color in his bald pate. But what do you expect from the land of Five Guys? A crappy diet's effects are most palpable in the long run.
The fresh spring of youth and the momentum of natural basal Youthful metabolism and the increase through youth vigor achieved exercise,
Will obfuscate the dietary input factors. Webb was able to achieve PR times and successes here and there. After 2007 however, and maybe thinking in retrospect including prior, WEBBYs inconsistency in mood and performance may have been due to hardened arteries, undernourished areas of the cortex and sub cortex and lack of adequate spiritual and parasympathetic renewal. Sad. At his best he was a man of extraordinary emotion, vision and dedication. If you watched his flo interview in Belgium then you know what I'm saying. Alas, art and exuberance are lost teachings. Into hiding until the dark ages past and the revelations of the runner sages re emerge.
+1
People with healthy diets don't run faster or last longer.
Webb was just destined to get old fast after maturing early.

In what sense then are said diets 'healthy'?
I seriously doubt diet would have made much difference with Webb.
How did it not? Thats so much extra energy and stress he put on his arteries every day. He treated every day like it was his last just to keep his heart somewhat healthy. Greasy junk food is not good for you heart, sorry to ruin that for u fatties.
That Webb supposedly fueled himself on junk food is one of the most persistent myths on Letsrun.
In any event, almost every elite runner eats at least some junk food. The question is when and how much.
Running wise probably not much. He was a bright flame and bright flames burn out sooner.
Might of saved his hair follicles in the long run. Who knows.

In the sense that some people have decided that they are.
Why does everyone get up in arms about that idea that nutrition is at least somewhat significant to performance? You guys really think it's ludicrous to consider that not all diets provide equal benefits?
The article above says he ate like sh1t. Read it.
If his diet slowed him down he would have never set his records.
His records would be faster with a better diet.

Prove it. Plenty of diet nerds perform terribly.

I doubt that was a major part of his diet. Having a pizza once in awhile will have zero impact on your training and performance.
