Anyone?
Anyone?
I thought I read that like 4-5 times a week in the morning he'd six miles. I'm not sure what other training in the afternoon to add to his mileage
forwarded by Fred Wilt....said 85 miles a week. it got into pretty good detail..longest run was 15 miles.

IMPOSSIBLE. JK said " A runner absolutely must obtain the ability to train at 120-150 (or more) miles per week by the peak of the career in order to reach fruition. There are no exceptions to this. " So either one of two scenarios are possible:
1) Pre ran, as you state, 85 miles a week, and did NOT COME CLOSE to reaching his "fruition" (I guess JK means "peak ability" by that), and therefore could have run about 12:50 if JK had coached him ( I figure if Pre's mileage was only at 2/3 to 1/2 of his "fruition", then he with all those additional miles he could clearly cut another 30 seconds off his time.)
2) Your info is incorrect, and Pre did run as ALL runners should: 120-150 miles a week.
( I will not bring up the possiblity of reason # 3......that JK could be wrong about his absolute pronouncement.....because I do not want to be banned for life)
AHA! I have found the key! JK only said the runner must obtain the ability to train at that level. It did not say he must actually train at that level
Never thought of that one, did ya? You are sooo busted.
you are correct. And if we take that statement at its face value, then I guess anyone who achieves greatness at less than 120-150 miles a week could simply be said by JK to have "obtained the ability" to have done those miles(if he did not want to allow for exceptions to his absolute rule). But how we could EVER know if one "obtain(ed) the ability" to do something, until they ACTUALLY did it.....is beyond me. I guess JK would have to answer that.
I obtained the ability to run a 2:06 marathon. I just have not chosen to do it yet. STAY TUNED!

Barracks room lawyer,
But what runner is JK referring to? Is it a Marathon runner? 10K Runner? Miler?
I believe he is referring to the marathoner but I could be wrong.
By the way, why doesn't he come to the forum and discuss training ideas like Renato, Antonio, Joe rubio, Hodgie, tinman, malmo?
There are a lot of us who believe that we could learn a lot from JK.
