LOL he might make it a close race but no way the King is going to lose this race. I think Ches has lost one NCAA final race and that was to Lawi no way he doesn't win the mile even with the 3 K and the DMR Mile split that he is going to run. But you got to admire Soratos for thinking he has a chance and is going to win.

After watching each athlete's last mile, no one can say it is not possible. -
If you can dream it, you can do it! Go Xtian!!!!!1111

Fitness is not the only thing that determines who will win, especially in a championship race.
Not to mention, Ches is pretty damn fit as well. -

I haven't been that impressed with Ches this season. 3:56 on a banked track in a field of pros isn't anything stellar for someone with Ches's credentials. 2:52 in the 1200 isn't that impressive either considering he's run a 1500 at that pace. Granted it was solo, but it wasn't like he was just cruising, he was visibly straining at the end. I don't think he could have gone that much faster if someone had been pacing him. This doesn't mean I expect him to lose, though - he's very well-coached and his track record speaks for itself - but I definitely think Soratos has a shot.
-
I'd also like to add that Ches has the DMR the day before so he won't be quite as fresh as Soratos or some of the other guys.
-
Soratos is in the hunt to win it. I ran at another community college when he was at Hartnell. His soph year he won conference in the 10k, 1500, 800, and 5k. He set the meet record in the 800 in 1:51 like it was nothing.

I'd also like to add that Ches has the proven track record of winning and making a statement. I'd like to see Soratos win this, but the track record is not entirely as long.
Should be a battle. And hopefully a fast one! -
You made a ton of predictions on NCAA indoors a year or two ago and less than half were correct. Why should anyone listen to you?
-
Soratos is going to destroy Ches. Even if Ches was only running the mile he would lose to Soratos. Soratos is the future of American milers.
-
Soratos can take Ches. It's gonna be a phenomenal race to watch, but I'll be pullin for Saratos the whole time. I'd love to see Soratos take down the king!!!
-
That's a very impressive workout and Cheserek will be tired. If this is the same Cheserek as at Millrose, then he will not win, but if that was just an aberration (maybe he was sick, maybe pacing his teammate Gregorek, maybe overtired from workouts that week or jet-lagged) and he is back to normal, he is the better miler. He has won all but one NCAA championship race since he entered college in 2013. So, you have to go with him if he is healthy and fit. I'm 50-50 on this. Soratos is ready to do it against a tired not 100% Cheserek, but I'll still go with the proven record.
-
Anything is possible, but I think Cheserek has got this one.
Cheserek is known for peaking when it counts and destroying really good athletes. Soratos could win in a fast race if he comes in ready to run a big pr. If the race goes last enough and he can kick to say a 3:53. Otherwise, I see Cheserek winning. -
