Anyone else think Centro looking around then raising his hands with a 'what's up' wave was a bit of a dick move? Sure he was happy but wouldn't that get flagged in an NFL or college game?

Is it classy? no.
No further comment.
If he said stuff like, "If people want to beat me, they're going to have to bleed to do it. It'll be a pure guts race and I'm the only one who can win it," then people would say what a refreshing attitude that is. And then if he went and had a few beers before flipping his car, then people would idolize him and wear t-shirts with his picture.
NO, I think it was fine. I think your thinking explains why the national track champs were on some peripheral channel and why people by and large do not car about t&f in this country. Can you think of any other ways to make the sport even more boring and less relevant for potential viewers than regulating post-race celebrations?
Who was that little turd several years back who threw up a CU logo with his fingers? Wasn't he a high school kid?
Be careful. I had a thread deleted for asking the very same question but not just on today's race but his overall public persona. I asked a legitimate question and wondered if he was really a feminine hygiene product in real life or were we not seeing him for the person he is. It was deleted after "a duck" disagreed. Then I made another one with the same original inquiry and also asked why my first got deleted. Some comments came in about the subject and others came in referring to "a duck's" ways of making threads disappear. After that started up, it was gone quick.
So back to my first question:
Is it just me or is CENTRO a douche?
As I said before, he is an outstanding talent and obviously works hard. My issue is that the limited exposure I have to him he comes as an arrogant d-bag. I was asking if anyone has some insight to let us know if that is really him or are we misreading him.
Sorry OP, your thread is probably about to be deleted.

THANK YOU.

Post event celebrations are regulated in every sport. Why does your boy require an exception?
Can you imagine a sport so boring that a person might get fined for putting his arms out after winning? Jeez, y'all need some spice in your lives.
Like, I'm picturing Kevin Garnet going "yeah!" and giving a fist pump after a big win, and some dweeb whining about his "classiness" on a forum. If you want class, go to a shrimp mixer. This is the place for BIG DOGS, and you know what? BIG DOGS GOTTA EAT. Sorry, what was I talking about?
You seem strangely obsessed with Centro.
My God are we complaining about some one who was obviously superior to all others at the meet this afternoon celebrating?
Who cares where he went to school or who he trains with. I'm a huge fan of track (its what I do for a living) and I was bored out of my freaking mind today at the meet. It was brutal. Toooooooo much time between races. Thank god I knew a few people in the field events, but even those had low participation numbers. 6 women in the long jump? WTF?
We have much bigger problems than distance runners suddenly developing personality and providing us something to root for. As Tay Tay says, haters gonna hate. Centro is the least of our problems.
Little Centro's antics drive fans away. Centro fanboys refuse to see the obvious. Many people have turned away from people who behave like Centro. They have no reason to be fans of his.

Hahaha what does that even mean. Turned away? So, what, they refuse to watch races with Centro in them?

I understand how it may seem that way. I would like to think that I am a pretty hardcore track and field fan (small group, I know). I was seriously wondering and looking for some insider info about how he is not a dick in real life so I could make myself cheer for him. Then when my threads got deleted and I saw a whole bunch of crazy, non running related threads are not getting deleted it made me a bit pissed and I wanted to get my question out there.
So I'm not obsessed with him but I am with the sport. If I asked if Lebron James was a douche real life on an NBA board I would get all sorts of answers but it wouldn't get deleted. Letsrun thinks they are looking out for their interests but discussion about athletes can create a buzz. Even "bad guys" can get ratings. Ask the WWE.
You are exceptionally stupid. Centro has been turned away from, not races. Races are not Centro's personal domain, although I can see why fanboys think he is the only reason anyone would watch a race.
RYAN DEAK!
Are you people serious? How could you be upset by that? I've always been a sucker for celebrations. I find them funny and the average fan probably finds them entertaining.
Does anyone seriously believe the NFL is "better" and "classier" now that players can't do TD celebrations? Was anyone really offended by them in the first place?
What YOU find entertaining does not equal what OTHER people find entertaining. Is this really such a difficult concept for you to grasp.
He's a really nice guy. I've spoken with him a handful of times over the years in eugene, and he's always cordial and kind. Comes off face to face as a really enthusiastic guy. I'll continue to cheer for him.
