Does anyone remember the name of a Nike sock shoe from the late 80's?
If I remember correctly it was powder blue and had no laces. It had stretch material for the upper and you just slid your foot into it.
It was as flexible as the Free, extremely light and probably a zero drop.
It was a great shoe that was way ahead of its time.

Nike Sock Trainer.
The Sock Racer came first. Bumble bee yellow & black. Followed by the Nike Sock Racer II.
Mid 80's was the yellow sock racer and blue sock trainer.
Late 80's was the Air Flow. It had laces.
Loved that sock racer. You described it well with the bumblebee description.

the blue has buckles too. I still use mine occasionally on my treadmill.

The sock trainer had buckles like the first sock racer.
The sock racer II was a lighter blue with laces.
I owned all 3 of these at 1 time. I found the sock racer II the best of the 3.

I still have my Air Flow and Sock racer II's from HS....wish they still made them.
Didn't they have a shoe they called the hoka or something like that?
It was like those sandals the mexican runners wear.
What was that one without laces that had a dial that you turned to tighten it? This was early 90s.
There was also the Aqua Sock designed by Geoff Hollister.

Are you kidding me?? IMO the Terra T/C was such a pile of garbage. Unless you weighed 110 lbs, the so-called "phylon" cushioning would compact after about 50 miles rendering them worthless.
Never wore the Sock Racer but I did try the blue Sock Trainer, and while the buckle was odd, it was a well cushioned, easy to run in shoe. The main problem was the sock part would get holes/rips in it easily.
Air Sock was my favorite out of all of those. Terrible if it was raining mind; basically a big sponge on each foot.

The Terra T/C was a real runners shoe. It was ideal as a tempo or even racing flat and not an everyday trainer like the Nike Contrail.
I do see how a fat a$$ would destroy them quickly however.

Believe it was the "Air Sock."

I was surprised how relatively hard it was to find a picture. Took a while to grow on me, but than I really like them.

It really is amazing that company that has produced so many great training and, particularly, road racing shoes over the years has now went so long without regularly having multiple good lightweight trainers and road racing shoes on the market at the same time. I would have thought that Nike would have ALWAYS maintained one or more late-model equivalents to the Eagle and Terra T/C on the market....but unfortunately, not.

You are thinking of the early 90s Air Huarache. It was my all-time favorite triathlon shoe. There was enough neoprene in the upper design that you could wear it without laces.
