What is the cause of cramps? I got one this past weekend and hadn't really changed anything in my normal routine. Bagel and a powerbar about 2 1/2-3 hrs before the race. Gatorade and water as well. Any advice on how to keep this from re-occuring.

If it was only one race I wouldn't worry about making any changes to prevent this, but if it keeps happening then try more stretching and cool down the days leading upto the race, other than that you'll have to talk to someone who has a degree or some such crap. good luck
Hey, see how your next few races go. Even try to really push some runs, just to see what happens when your at race pace. My boyfriend had a similar situation, he caught a cramp during every race on about a 5-race stretch. Finally went to the doctor and he got put on fiber and calcium pills. He was on them for about 6-7 months, and had a breakout season this year. Ran PR's every single race. So, if your stomach should flare up your next race, maybe try to vitamins and plenty of water. Drain out ya system.
