Watch out Galen! A real man is running hard..... oh wait.... Rupp is an Olympic medalist and Solinsky is a washed up chump. -
Listen, to be within a minute of the fastest man over 40 for this event is commendable for a dude with a torn hamstring. Kudos.
-
Solinsky was a Footlocker Champion, won multiple NCAA Championships, and had a stellar pro career from 2008-2011. However, Rupp has the Olympic Medal and the American Record(s). Both fine runners. I hope Solinsky is still enjoying running post-pro career.
-
According to his twitter he ran a marathon in practice.
"Sooo....I just ran a marathon.....my first one.....in practice. Guess I can check that off my list......sleep mode engaged."
and in reply to Chris Derrick's comment about it only counting as 22 miles (a la Badger miles)
"@CDerrickRun I'm pretty sure it actually comes to 21 since 2:30 is 21, I'm guessing 2:40 would be 22."
This guy is in shape. This was most likely a tune up for his half marathon coming up. -

Is Solinsky officially done with his career? I was hoping we'd still see a comeback. Even if not, he was one of the most exciting runners to watch, even in high school. I have total respect for the guy. -
Someone needs to set up a matchup between Solinsky, Symmonds and Webb over 3000.
-
you realize he's racing the NYC HM next month right?

Solinsky is one of the greatest runners of all time. He is MR. CONSISTENCY and should be receiving a pension from Nike for the rest of his life. I would keep paying him.
He never had a bad race and won every race that has ever mattered.
Solinsky is legit. -
You obviously did not see his final NCAA cross country debacle.

Yawn. NCAA Cross Country is every year. Yawn, it is meaningless. Solinsky is white so he is superior and deserves a Nike Sponsorship. You know I am right. -

Definitely didn't kick like crazy. According to Flash Results, last lap was only a 32...probably just pacing.

chris was just pacing. goal was to get a few guys around 8:20 but we're in a heavy training block so we just didn't have it at the last k. mark my words-- chris is ready to goo. (and so is wm distance)
-
i actually like solinsky. i like rupp as well. this was more of a final smug stamp on all the non related comparisons of folk who like solinsky and hate rupp based solely on their physical appearance. in the end yes they both had their moments, but the man who is the best runner is rupp. always was and always will be.

Trust me, we don't care if WM distance is ready to go. -

No brother, you are a hater. -
You don't--but for others, it's nice to see someone taking pride in his program.
