I was reading a college coach's training log, and he mentioned that over the weekend he was a rabbit for three of his athletes (in a mile at one meet and a mile and a DMR at another meet).
First of all, how do you rabbit a DMR? Do you enter as an unattached team, and do you carry a baton? I've never seen that before, so it seemed odd.
But the bigger issue: should a coach be able to rabbit for his athletes at a meet? I understand wanting to help your athletes in any way you can, but would rabbiting be considered giving some sort of assistance during a race?
I guess if questioned you could play it off as a coincidence ("I was planning on running these races, but gosh darnit I just started feeling bad about 800 meters in every time."). Still seems a little suspect to me.
