What a race to win the Wanamaker Mile!
What a race to win the Wanamaker Mile!
He looks so smooth. Love to watch him race.
Talented from genetics and doped. A cocky attitude because of it but no one likes him
A brilliant run by both Centro and Willis. Gotta love the honest pace and a true battle up until the very end. Also props to Pat Casey, who seems to be having a breakout season.
Didn't think he would be able to hold off Willis at the end. Was anyone besides the rabbit ever in front of him?

Nope. He was out front from the start.
Who care!!!!! long season, he will not make it to worlds!!
Wonderfully executed race by Centro. Got the lead when the rabbit dropped out and never gave it up. Willis tried to challenge before the final turn but Centro wouldn't let him pass.

Whilst the rest of the world's medalist (including the east African ones it turns out) need talent and pharma to win medals, Centro and the rest of the NOP simply work harder.
Yea, and Willis is running the fastest times of his life at 30/31.
What is he on? The Regina Jacobs sauce?

Pun intended?
The splits are very interesting. Other than Centro getting out over 1.5 seconds quicker than Willis over the first 400M, Willis ran every single lap faster.
Awesome run for both guys. Willis has one many races with this same tactic. Personally I am glad that Centro held him off this time. Hes an exciting racer to watch.
This is a really great story. What a great precedent.

You've gotta be kidding, this is straight-up Orwell shit.
Anonymous internet posts are not taken seriously enough to harm anyone's reputation. Let alone whether anyone's reputation is worth millions of dollars. This is another example of frivolous tort out of control, lawyers out to destroy the web.
back to actually talking about Centro & racing...the knock on him has been that he can do well in tactical races but can't hang in a fast race. does this do something to counter that? leading the whole way AND running fast (3:51 is pretty damn good indoors, right? PR for him?.
Hail Lagat 3:54.91!!! New masters mile record. That's THE real story.
This really was a great race. Centro showed that he can lead nearly the entire race and yet use amazing racing tactics to win at the end. Kudos also to Nick Willis for a tremendous effort and to Bernard Lagat for his Masters record. Three Oregon Ducks went well under sub 4 today with Gregorek and Cheserek at Millrose and a third going 3:57 at the Seattle Indoor.
I've been running, watching, coaching, and officiating track for a long azs time and good lord everything about this Centrowitz screams dope dope DOPE!!! I start to have flashbacks of FloJo and Regina every time I see him race. What a chump.
Daniel Winn is the other Oregon runner who went 3:57 at an Indoor meet in Seattle today. He broke Mac Fleet's Oregon school record, no small feat. Then just minutes later, he lost his record when both John Gregorek and King Cheserek broke Winn's record. It was a very big day for Oregon runners as they were setting records both in Seattle and NYC on the same day.

No. Fast for him, but not the best milers. He just looks good today because of the lesser competition. This run was on par with a ~3:32/3:31 outdoors.
