How many days does it take to recover from a 3000m race. I've got five nights sleep after the race to recover for a 5k cross country. Is this enough recovery for me to perform optimally?

You'll never recover.
But considering many runners double back the next day and sometimes the same day of a 3000, you may have a chance with 5 days rest.
Considering Cam Levins ran a 3:54 mile then half an hour later ran 8:15 for 3k, and then did a workout with his overrated and misguided coach I'd say that you would be okay on five nights sleep.
Five days is enough time to recover. You will be fine good luck if you're racing.
The typical recovery time for the 3000m race is 3-6 months (this being a conservative estimate). You may push this timeline at your own potential peril. I knew a guy once that only allocated 6 weeks to recovery and the result was two torn hamstrings and a case of the gout.
Good luck.

You are what is wrong with the world. Get a life you uncultured peasant.
3 to 4 days is plenty to recover from the 3000m.
Good answer in many ways.
I have always thought the 1 day easy per mile raced, was a good rule of thumb, except anything below 5k, I still take the next 3 days easy/recovery.

That is a good idea, I may try that.
