I've often heard people say running is the cheapest sport because all you need is a pair of shoes. So I decided to add up the cost of running over the last three years and compare it to my other sports. Running turned out to be more expensive than skiing, motocross and golf. That includes the cost of equipment for each sport. How is that possible? Food costs. I spend about $50 extra per week on food when I'm running. That's $2600 a year. I imagine cycling would be much more expensive, but running certainly isn't as cheap as some people like to think. And from what I've heard, I should be saving for knee surgery when I get older!
