3 chances on the 1 yard line with plenty time and the best power back in the game who had a 4.5 ypc in the game, and had not suffered a loss of yardage carry the entire game.
So what's he do? Call a high risk slant pass into the middle of the defense.
If you can think of a bigger coaching choke than this, let's have it. I can't think of one.
The irony is he made one of the strongest coaching calls at the end of the half. But totally negated. Good example of the fickle nature of sports. One call can crown you king, another can ruin you eternally.
Pete Carroll: Worst Choking Coach In Sports History

Did he or the OC really make the call? I find that really hard to believe.

In the interview Carroll took the blame. We may never know whose horrible idea it was. It will haunt the Pacific Northwest for a long time though

No matter. Time for pink slips for the entire offensive coaching staff. You mess up that bad in your job, you'd get a pink slip. -
Pete's saving grace is the fact that the only names most Seahawks Fans know are Sherman, Wilson, and Beast Mode.
-
Maybe Okc will get the Seahawks now?

It wasn't a bad call. 3 receivers on the field vs Pats goal line D.
It was a bad read & throw by Wilson. That interception falls entirely on Wilson. Not Pete Carrolls play call. -
You need a lobotomy

Why stop there? Why not just blame the receiver for running too slow. Right? -
Great QBs make that play work by throwing it sooner, reading the coverage & throwing it to another receiver, or simply throw the ball away. It's as simple as that.

Exactly. The defender jumped the inside of the route. Wilson still threw it to the inside instead of the receivers outside shoulder.
Belichick said prior to the second half "the players will decide the game" and Brady and Wilson decided it, not the coaching. -
It was a brilliant defensive play. Almost an exact play as Porter (Saints) interception of Manning in 2010. It's called anticipation. Seattle got away with this play too many times but not this time. Good defense. You can second guess the play calling all day but the simple fact is brilliant defensive move.

Actually, just saw a replay, & the analyst said the receiver is also at fault because he didn't fight for the ball at all. It was basically a jump ball where either could have got it.
Also, notice Wilson pointing to himself while walking to the sideline saying it was his fault. Also, indicates the interception falls on Wilson, & yes the receiver somewhat. -
Yep, I agree. They pretended to be in goal line formation to tempt Seatle to do exactly what they did! Bellicheck must be probably the greatest chess player of all NFL coaches. It was brilliant defense. Anticipation of the anticipation of the anticipation. They really fooled Seattle.
This is why the run was the correct call even though it is boring and "to be expected". It is higher percentage and less risk. You can't outsmart a chessmaster, right? -

2 football championship losses for the Pacific Northwest. Seahawks & Ducks. Now rain & darkness until mid-June. -
And Why THREE WR's on the filed in that situation? Who sent them in, who called that play?
-
Don't forget good old player #12, FAN, lol.
