Im too lazy to look at the link but if its referring to the US trials in general theyre probably right. Track meets are not just distance meets. Sprints, throws, jumps..didnt we get just a few medals in these not to mention the trials posting world leading marks in some?
The only events where you may have a point are the 100, 200 and 400. Thats 3 out of 18 events - hardly a whole meeting.
Having said that though, the golden leagues and most of the GP 1's have as good if not better line up in the sprints. E.g. the London GP has to have 2 heats it packs so much tallent into the 100. And that usually includes all the best US sprinters.
And then there's the Commonwealth Games and the European Championships, which are leagues above the US trials as far as the meeting as a whole goes.
