While you're probably right, I would pick Saarel over the aforementioned Moussa or Huryzs.

Huryzs has really good speed but his 4x placing vs Saarel's 7th is a huge difference. Also Saarel can definitely outwheel Moussa over the last 200 on a track. If the pace is honest, Moussa may be able to run away from Saarel over the last 1k.

But that's just what I see within the Colorado group, others in the race are better, like Jenkins or Korolov, rando Kenyans etc.

Kemoy Cambell could have a bit of a resurgence (although I think he'll do better in the 3k)

I don't really think Schrader will be much of a threat, sure he through down a really fast early-season time but he wasn't coming off xc like everyone else. After his 12k win and AR I think he'll really shine at 10,000m at outdoors but doesn't have the leg speed to contend w/Jenkins or whoever else.

These two. Its hard to imagine Jenkins not winning with a 13:18 PB. Tiernan will be a close second.

Shrader beat a sub 61 HM'er at the U.S. 12k Champs, don't count him out

I still got:

1) Jenkins

2) Tiernan

3) Shrader

4) Joe Rosa

5) Stinson

I'm not sure jenkins is in the same shape as when he ran 13.18, he was in unbelieveable form when he ran that!

He does however appear to be a track runner over xc runner, so if he finished that high up at ncaa xc chances are he's going to be beating most of these guys on the track if that's his best surface.

Will be interested to see how he gets on, i'm looking forward to seeing what he does once he's finished at Oregon - will he move to the NOP as can't see him running under Schumacher, seems like a different type of runner and to be honest a level above most of that group barring Jager and a couple of others on a very good day.

Seems like a few are staying post-collegiately with Powell sponsored by Nike (dunbar) so wouldn't suprise me if Jenkins and Parker Stinson also go down this route and all continue to train together with Cheserek.

Training with jenkins every day must certainly be helping Cheserek rather than him running everyhting solo as he's so far ahead of the other ducks, so i guess it makes sense for Powell, Nike and Oregon to try and kee a few of them together sponsored and helping Cheserek finish his legacy as the best collegiate runner in history.

Did I hear him wrong or did he say he is running the 3k, DMR and also the open mile?

I think with Ches out of the race, it actually opens the race up to be a fast one as opposed to the everyone waiting for Ches to make a move we will see a lot. With that, it will probably end up being the guys who have the best season bests/PRs that will do the best.

Hard to bet against Jenkins, so long as he isn't DQ'd.

I think you have it about right, plus I would throw in Kemoy Cambell. The problem with most of the other guys that come to mind is the inability to run the last two 2 laps under 30 seconds.

All of them have the ability to run the last 2 laps under 30 seconds

I personally would like to see an underdog win it.

Any of the Colorado guys or maybe even Stinson.
