What do you think they could pull with Mo, Galen, and Centro?
What do you think they could pull with Mo, Galen, and Centro?
mo is the best choice for the 1600 just by his PR
So Centro would prbably be stuck in the 400
Galen Rupp - 1200: 2:50
Some random 400 meter runner: 45.0
Matt Centrowitz - 800: 1:46
Mo Farah - 1600, 3:50
that gives you 9:11
the world record is 9:15.56 with splits of 2:50.8, 45.8, 1:46.2, 3:52.8
I don't assume that Mo Farah is currently is 3:50 1600m shape
This seems very possible with good competition.
Id say it would be Mo in mile, Centro for 800, Rupp for 1200 and Mary cain for 400 (joking idk just some random 400m runner)
but what about a dream team DMR of anyone?
Johnson -400
Guerrouj - 1600
Rudisha - 800
Ngeny - 1200?? maybe Lagat??
the 400, 800, and 1600 are pretty clear
the 400 would just be current record holder Johnson or any of the 3 other men under 44 seconds depending on who could run it best in certain conditions yada yada.
800 - Since 800 is the 3rd leg there would most likely be a gap from all other teams by now and no one can contest Rudisha's front running ability 1:40.91 without pacers stands alone, but you could argue kipketer because so many people love saying "48 opening lap".
1200 - This is where debate can happen more, I personally just threw Ngeny there because of his 1000m WR and his 3:43 mile showing he has great potential at the distance. But you could say Lagat (3:26:24) and good finishing speed could probably run a damn good 1200, Coe could be thrown in there. Maybe even Rudisha in his 2012 prime could run a stellar 1200 and Kipketer could be at 800.
1600- Guerrouj Ngeny was close but still 2nd and is better at the shorter distance where as Guerrouj was better at Mile up.
Good luck finding "some random 45.0 runner" indoors. Only 5 guys have ever run that and they're all individual gold medalists.
Yeah, I think Ngeny would be the best choice for the 1200. The other three are all no-brainers. How about an all-American team? Symmonds, Johnson, Gray, Webb?
Symmonds in the 12? No way. Webb 1200m, Lagat 1600m.

A 45.0 relay split and an open 45.0 400m are not the same thing. However, I still agree on your general point. Substitute 45.X in for 45.0 and the post you are responding to becomes 100% legit.
You're right, I forgot about Lagat. He should definitely anchor.
Three clones of Ryun for 800/1200/1600 obviously

Only if the clones have wabbits for 400/800/1200, respectively. And the race is held on a 70s synthetic track.
1200 - el g
400 - m. johnson
800 - rudy
1600 - ryun
