Anyone else think Ryan Hall will be a good 10k guy? He was a 4:03 miler in high school so he certainly has the speed.

no one is going to pay Ryan Hall tens of thousands of dollars to DNF a track 10000 meter race or to actually finish but at tempo run pace.
So he will just stick to the roads, thank you very much.

I have always wondered why hall never made a serious attempt at 10000m. His 13:15 as a senior at Stanford was a pretty big break through for him at the time. Then he went straight to the marathon.
It's been discussed about our top college guys going straight to the marathon instead of running 28:xx in the 10k for a few years. Halls a good example.
He had immediate success then seemed to stagnate. Not sure who his post collegiate coach before he started coaching himself.
No. He's too old to switch it up to running shorter distances. For better or worse, he's in it now. Likely there is little time left for his running career to be taken seriously by anyone - he either needs to surprise most people with some competitive times this year, which unfortunately is seeming a bit unlikely, or get a job and take up running with Bob Kennedy.
I never used to like him, but now that the odds are against him, I'd like to see him do well. I just wouldn't bet my own money on him.

According to McMillan Calculator, his 2:04 translates to a 26:26. So even if he doesn't have the raw speed, he should still easily be able to run ~26:40.
FWIW, for the 5k, McMillan has 12:44 for him. So, certainly sub 12:50 if he "jogs it out".

Hall ran a 3:42 1500 in high school.
He is running a 10000 on the track? Link?

Terrence Mahon coached him before he went noodles.

Hall should have been in the Stanford 10k with Webb and Ritz. He would have been running for 3rd but he would have dropped 27:20
lol @ 26:40

Terrence Mahon, also the coach of Josh Cox, Deena Kastor, and other elites at the time.
Once Ryan left Coach T, he did run that 2:04, but then that was it.

yeahhhhh...... about that "2:04"......
Of course, we're waiting for him to run a marathon on the track, get lapped, and come back for the win.

He absolutely cruised through a 28:0x in the heat after graduating.

I think Bob Larsen coached Josh Cox

He won´t have the wind in his back for an entire track race.
Hall never had good speed. His mile & 1500 PR's are slower than Todd Williams'.

Plus, it's obvious w/o looking up PR's. He's no speedster.
