On the RnR website it lists St. Louis as an event with a full.

But when I try to register, there is no full option. Has it been cancelled?

Not sure what site you're seeing there is a full on, but nowhere does it mention a full marathon on: http://runrocknroll.competitor.com/st-louis
The full marathon was offered at Rock 'N Roll St Louis last year. It may have been dropped due to lack of participation, logistics problems or cost cutting. Go St Louis in the spring is the alternative race at the marathon distance.
They were going to run it through Ferguson.
According to my running group, yes, the full has been cancelled so they are only offering a half next year.
Rock 'n Roll = peanut butter
Half Mary = chocolate
You don't need the full Mary.

How the heck is a spring race an alternative for a fall race? I suppose the races are similar in that they both start and finish in downtown St. Louis.
There is another fall marathon in the St. Louis region if you don't mind driving to St. Charles - the MO' Cowbell Marathon. It is very, very flat, but the 2nd half of the course is simply an out-and-back on the Katy trail and it is also a small field compared to the half option (this race started out as a 1/2 and added the "full" later).
Interestingly, I believe that the MO' Cowbell started up as a response of to the end of the Lewis and Clark Marathon which was the race that RnR bought out and moved from St. Chuck to Downtown St. Louis in order to start the RnR St Louis 'thon.
