The current shape that they're in, not if they trained specifically. A friend and I were debating.
You figure the only ones who would have a chance are cornerbacks, safetys, wide receivers, running backs, and a select few quarter backs. Linebackers, lineman, tight ends, etc. are way too big.
My initial thought was no. But after thinking, and given the huge number of athletes in the NFL, I could see it being possible.

I'd say kickers and punters are more likely than any of the positions above to be able to run a 4:30 mile.

MAYBE a really athletic wide receiver, corner back or quarterback.
Rg3 ran a 49.22 400MH. Honestly he probably had the endurance back in high school, he may be to muscular now.
DeSean Jackson might. For anyone who has actually done a route at full speed it takes a lot out of you and he goes deep almost every play.
4:30 ? No way ? There isn't a single NFL player that could currently break 5:00.
I think a bunch of corners/receivers could. Sure they are big guys....but remember they full sprint down the field a bunch during a game...4:30 would be nothing if they were paced correctly.
Yes, of course there is. Don't forget that a lot of the guys at skilled positions were track studs as well.
Ted Ginn Jr for example, ran a 46.57 400m in High School. He didn't run track in college, but he definitely could cruise to a 4:30 mile with that speed.
If any, it would be small corners. Speculating they are small enough and do the most running of any NFL position.

No way. Have you guys ever seen the sprinters on your team run the 800? Do you ever see the sprinters run cross country? It's hilarious! 9 out of 10 sprinters would struggle to run 2:15 much less 4:30.
For the 1 out of 10 who would pop a good 800, that's probably their limit. Extending it another 2 laps is really out of range.
For the freak out their who is a fast sprinter and can somehow still run a fast mile (this is now a 1 in 100 talent), if they're in the NFL they are too musclebound to actually do it. It's not happening.
Alshon Jeffery could do it for sure, he has great speed and is pretty much what would happen if Robert Cheruiyot devoted himself to developing his upper body, he has the lowest distal weight of any NFL player I know of.
In these pictures you can really see how he is just Cheruiyot trying to play football. Crazy morphology, he must have great running economy.

I once saw a superstars competition where James Lofton ran a 1:58 800. Also, Jerry Rice used to run up a 2 mile mountain trail as part of his training and he seems to have a body type that might make it possible. Both are obviously not currently in the NFL, but I think might be able to do it. Can't think of anyone specifically who could do it now.

No, no, and no. I ran for a lower tear DI college many years back. Just before graduating I took a PE class (minor) with a fellow runner who happened to be a sub 4 guy. Coincidentally, there were a bunch of RB and WR from the football team in the class. One day we were doing a sort of relay where we all lined up in different groups and each person had to run to the end of the gym, do some silly thing, and then run back (~100 yards). Each team put there top guy in front and my friend just happened to be up front with a few of the top RBs and WRs on the school team. He obliterated all of them. Granted, he was a low 48 guy in the 400, and most of them were able to hold him for about 40 yards or so, but none of them were going to run a sub 4:30 any time soon.
Are there guys in the NFL that have talent to run a 4:30 mile? Sure. Can any of them do it right now, under their current fitness? No.

Ted Ginn JR is 5'11, 180lbs. He is not "too musclebound". He could go 4:30, the dude is a freak.
4:30 isn't that fast. I would think a number of them could do it. Unless you have been around some of these guys it is hard to comprehend their athletic ability. Ginn for sure, TY Hilton, Desean Jackson, and I'm sure a handful more. NBA probably has more capable of doing it though.

I went to school with a guy who became a second string NFL cornerback who ran a 5:10 gym mile in 7th grade. Who knows, could have been the next Meb. There are probably scores more like him who could do it off of raw athletic ability at the speed positions.
Kaepernick could do it, no sweat. RG3 would have a chance as well.
