When do you wear half tights?

Just wondering, is there a difference between compression shorts and half tights?

I wear them when it's on the chilly side but not too cold that I need to cover my entire leg.

I like them as a first layer on colder, slower days. It is a rare occasion for me to wear them without something over unless speed is the name of the day.

I have a pair that I like because it doesn't chafe at all but they still feel fast. But they are pretty much the least flattering thing ever on both men and women. More power to you if you can wear them but they make me feel so self-conscious I can't do it anymore

You're right about shorts, but real men NEVER wear tights.

It doesn't get all that cold in my area (40-45 at the lowest on cold winter mornings), so I don't really need to layer up all that often. Although I have a right hamstring that bothers me on occasion, so if I feel like I need the extra warmth to keep it loose I put on some half tights or a thigh sleeve.

I like them in cooler weather so I can wear a boxer brief underneath. My highest heat loss areas get covered, but my lower legs are more unencumbered.

30-50F is when I solely wear just the half tights/compression. Above 50 is warm enough for short shorts unless it's overcast and super windy, under 30 is time for the full tights.

Let's just be honest. Half tights are 100% for looks

I used to wear them on cold days when I had a track workout or tempo run.

With a long sleeve shirt usually.

Haven't worn a pair in many years. Gym shorts do the trick now.

Why do you think they are unflattering? I think I may be getting capris and half tights mixed up. Or are they the same. They are tights that just cover your knees right? I wear them when it's cold enough for me to worry about my knees.

Short shorts cause jock itch for me so half tights every day

Anything under 35 usually calls from for full tights from for me.

For racing, never, team split shorts forever.

I had to race in half tights before because that's what my relay team wore.

Love half tights but have a hard time finding ones made for cold weather. Just ordered Adidas supernova half tights and they are very thin and more made for summer running it seems. I have a hard time finding specifically cold weather tights online. I have a thick pair of half tights that I bought years ago in a sports store and love. Anyone have a link to cold weather half tights for sale?
