Tweet from T&FN:
"The USATF Board has voted 11-1 to overturn the membership's 392-70 vote for @Bob_Hersh. Will nominate Hightower for IAAF Council #usatf14"
“We take the vote of our membership very seriously and respect it,” said USATF board vice chair Steve Miller, who oversaw board deliberations on the matter.

what the hell...

Always bet on black...

Obviously, Mr. Miller, you don't take the vote of the USATF membership seriously and you don't respect it. If you did, you wouldn't have overturned it.
-
Also, Mr. Miller, why were you the only member of the USATF board to vote against reinstating Andrew Bumbalough?
-
"Stephanie is a new-era person."
LoL, now that right there is funny.

I think Karl Kauffman summed it up nicely:
"Sitting IAAF Senior Vice President, kicked to the curb by the USATF BOD, ignoring Hersh's overwhelming 83% support of the membership. SMDH
That's not a slap to the face of most respected man in USATF's hierarchy - that's a shotgun to the temple"

Moving my comments here to combine threads.
Stephanie is a new-era person. The problem is that the era Hightower wants is one where the top Track Admins get driven around in limousines and treated like some kind of f'in royalty. -
This potentially gives Stephanie a near-permanent position on the USATF Board of Directors. IAAF regulations require that anyone on the IAAF Council be a member of their NGB's Board of Directors. AND, the chair of the board does not have to be the same person as the President. So Stephanie could also be the chair of the USATF Board of Directors.

I have lost a lot of respect for Deena Kastor. I would hope that she would better understand her role as a Board Member,
You were not voting for Hightower. Your vote was saying that the memberships opinion does not matter to you. -
Me too, if she went along with the rest of them on this. So sick of USATF's corruption.
-
Deena stepped down from the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting this year. Kurt Clausen was elected in her stead (formery racewalker, current lawyer, very aligned with athletes' rights).
The board needed a 2/3 vote to overturn the recommendation. That means 10/15 board members had to have voted for Stephanie. -
This is a pretty big deal. When we see things like this happen, we have to wonder what political force is driving this? It doesn't make sense. Why the overwhelming 11-1 vote by the board?
Has the board given their reasons for this?
What was their basis/reasoning for this? -
...or will this be met with the same "transparency" as the Andrew Bumbalow case.

Simple reasoning. The 11 who voted yes were appointed by Stephanie. The 1 who didn't came from AAC.
-
Can we see the votes/who voted this down? Term-limited Hightower needs a place to land I guess and the democratic process/will of the people is a victim as she seeks the next level of perks. #f-ingfraud

A real leader understands when nobody wants you to lead them, and steps aside. #Hightower #USATF14

For USATF Board to relinquish the seat Hersh has earned over 16 yrs of serving as IAAF Council, after a 392-70 vote, DOESNT MAKE SENSE.
David Torrence @David_Torrence 35m35 minutes ago
B) Hightower shows poor professionalism as President, & I ALONG with 392 other voting members, do NOT believe in her as IAAFcouncil. 5/5

Turns out our @usatf board is full of shit (except one). Only one member voted with the OVERWHELMING constituent support of Bob Hersh. -
Good on Lauren and David....
Any other athletes making statements?
If so, post... -
Not that it apparently matters for anything but..
