Does anyone know what the HS 5k record at van Cortland Park is? Josh McDougal i believe has the record, Most likely ran at the Footlocker North East 2003 race. Don Cabral has the #2 time of 15:09 run in 207. (Folks over at Milesplit could not seem to come up with it)

It doesn't matter since it is not the same course as it was back in the '70's, a true x/c course, sorry. The course is easier now after the renovations

Having run the coarse in the late 80's I would have to agree.

You are correct Jerry I only know what my father ran at VCP in the late 50's, what I ran there in the late 80's and what my sons have run there recently.
That and spelling was never my strong suit. Lol.

I believe McDougals 15:08 is still the record. He broke Anthony Smiths 15:14 from the 1982 Kinney NE qualifier. The fastest since McDougal was Don Cabrals 15:09 and Footlocker NE qualifier 2007. The 5k course is not run for most of the big meets so they don't seem to keep an updated list like they have for the 2.5 mile course.When people talk about the Vanny record they talk about Cesereks 2.5 mark, not McDougals. It would be nice to get an updated 5k list. Cathy Schiro has the girls record of 16:44 which I think is one of the greatest XC runs ever!
Here is the 5K list. I think McDougal, Smith, and Beauchamp should be on the all-time NY XC team. They are ahead of a number of NYers already mentioned on the VC 5K course. For an all-time XC list I would defer to 5K times over 2.5 mile times. Nobody runs 2.5 miles for a real cross country race.
