I have taken the cardboard that is underneath the sole of the zoom elites because i thought this would make it a better, does anyone know if this piece serves apurpose and if I should have thus kept it in?

Bad move! That's the rear board -- an integral part of the last. Shoes which don't have a board last achieve stability and firmness by other techniques. For the Zoom Elite, the board is essential to firm up and stabilize the soft air rear sole. In fact, most people think the Zoom Elite's rearfoot is too soft EVEN WITH the board last!
i took them out of my elites.
i wanted a more flexible shoe.
it really didnt make that much difference though.
I've had five pair of elites. I've ripped the board out of a couple of them but there's no difference in how the shoe feels with or without them. I can't tell without looking.
if you want the elite more flexible grind out that plastic shit in the middle but be careful since the air bag lies right underneath that. i've popped a pair before, but it does make them flex easier with out the plastic "stabilizer"
