OK, so Im organizing a 10K race, and there's been significant interest from people who want to WALK, but say it's too far. They want a 5K walk.
We are timing the 10K manually--well, with one of those computers with the printouts and tear off tags.
If we add a 5K distance, this would create more logistical issues with timing two separate races and then we'd have to doube the number of race prizes, currently numbering 42.
Im thinking of adding a 5K WALK with no awards--no one would run the distance, they'd have to sign up for the 10K. So, how much would you charge for this 5K walk? Tshirt and refreshments would be included, but there would be no chance to win awards. Entry fee right now is $25. Would you reduce the entry fee for the walk or keep it the same?
Really, I dont understand the mentality of the walkers and what pleasure they get from being in the back of the pack by themselves.
