6:27:44.
6:27:44.
In other news, this barely translates to a sub-2:20 marathon.

What's your point? It was a 100K, not a marathon.
You're an idiot. That's 6:14 for 63 miles.. incredible

Based on your post, I am not convinced that you know what the phrase "in other news" means. You are so stupid.

Sorry, I thought it was obvious: If the 'record' for a distance run is quite mediocre in comparison to other distances, it has much less real meaning, due to the fact that people who could easily best it either aren't interested or don't care.

And until those people you're referring to at least try, we have Max King.

Aww, did I hurt your feelings, bro?
No it's not incredible. As I mentioned, pretty well any sub-2:20 marathoner could have a go at this and have a decent chance of beating it. Therefore, this 'record' is only a record due to lack of real interest.

Thank you for this thrilling insight which has never before been mentioned in a thread about ultras.

for the record, he ran a 18:42 3-mile race 21 times consecutively, back to back.
That's just as impressive as a 2:20 marathon.

McMillan has it equivalent to 2:12:39.

That's WAY MORE impressive as a 2:20 marathon.
I fixed the above post.
And the 100k WR, 6:13:33 (6:01/mile) translates to a 2:07:47, nice.
Max King is a BEAST!
He is competitive at an amazing range of events. 3k steeple --> 100 miles. Throw in a mountain running championship and now a road ultra championship. Oh yeah - don't forget that Mud Run Championship. I would normally not include that along his other legit stats... but it did net him $30k!
Haters shouldn't even waste their time typing and other posters definitely shouldn't waste their time replying to that BS.
8:30 steeple, 2:14 marathon, multiple trail and ultra championships, and the infamous 100 x 200 workout.
Beast.
Awesome Job Max! Thought Miller and Flaherty could go top 5 as well. It looked liked Miller went after it and faded a bit. Not sure what happened to Flaherty. Looked like Wardian may have been coming in a little tired from his impressive Twin Cities Marathon master's performance. Likely not recovering as fast as he used to.
Exactly what is quoted below...Until you go sub 14min for 5km AND 8:30 in the 3km steeple AND 2:14 in the marathon at least show some respect.Take into consideration that it was on the hot/humid side in Doha and this course wasn't exactly flat or 100% paved. He ran a tactical race to win (not a time trial).Imagine what he could do for 50-100 miles on the track in good conditions when actually going for a good time!

Never mind winning the .US 12k Masters just last week.
Agree with Canaday on this one. Max has excelled in all distances and today's performance deserves some respect! Would love to see him run 50 or 100 on the track... more North American records would fall and likely be obliterated! Just wish there was more prize money in ultras to entice more fast runners. Anyone know what Max won for his efforts today???

Or what the phrase "translates to" means.
Didn't catch the 12K Master's results. No wonder he was sub-par today.
