Fair enough. The 1500 is in the Olympics.

Moving on, it looks like the mile will be the harder event to qualify in.

The standard conversion between 1500/miles is 1.08.

Thus a 3:36.20 would convert to a 3:53.5 mile but the standard is 3:53.30.

On the women's side, it's more pronounced. A 4:06.5 1500 would convert to a 4:26.2 mile but the standard is 4:25.2.

To be clear, BBTM has nothing against the 1500 meters, and it is good that the IAAF will accept Mile times for the outdoor WC 1500 qualifying in Beijing 2015.
