DRESSEL COMMITS TO COLORADO.
DRESSEL COMMITS TO COLORADO.
who is this?
This is actually a great choice for Dressel. He's a high mileage type who seems to like XC more than track, and I bet he'll do well there. Best of luck at Footlocker, Johnny! You've got your work cut out for you.
My Johnny boy is going to do so well!

Runner-up at Foot Lockers last year; has run 4:10/8:57.
I had heard rumors that Dressel was going to Colorado so it's not a huge surprise that he'll be in Boulder next year.
Bigger story: Joe Klecker commits to Colorado. Son of two AR holders, good attitude, more unrealized potential.
I'm sure the altitude will get to him in no time come this fall. That'll knock him down a few pegs. Just have patience..
Anoither great recruit for Colorado is Dani Jones on the women's side.

And Brianna Schwartz.
How much was Dressel offered at CU? Is it true that Ritz was only given a 50% scholarship?
US record holders in the 50k if I'm not mistaken.
I've heard that Dressel has run upwards of 100 miles a week for a while now. Is there really much upside that Colorado is getting? I suppose Ritz was like that too so maybe so.

I've never understood this reasoning.
Broadly speaking, there are two ways to improve. Volume and intensity.
If his volume is high, he can focus on intensity.

All of the star high school athletes recruited over the years have had their personal formulas of success. Coach will fine tune him , get rid the high school training nonsense and get him to a new level. The success ratio is pretty high.

Neither do the people who think that way.

His father ran at Arkansas. Not sure how much nonsense there is in his training. Not that there isn't, but probably a lot less so than a typical high schooler.

Nice one, Malmo.
Also, 100mpw at sea level is a bit different than 100mpw at moderate altitude with a nationally ranked collegiate team.
I find it really interesting that I posted something positive on this message board lastnight and now its been deleted! What's up with that?? So again, I just wanted to say... why can't we be positive to a high schooler who has worked really hard to get to a high level of running to help him get to college? Congrats to John Dressel and he will be a great addition to Colorado!
