Oshkosh
Mideast didn't deserve 5 teams, not with those point totals and 5th runners finishing 60+ at a regional meet.
Has a school ever had both male and female champions the same year? Padgett and Cheadle from WashU should be up there.
The Midwest was deep as always. I don't see how it's justifiable that only 5 teams made it out.
It was a good year to watch midwest regionals as it might prove to be a better show than nationals. Really .....tufts in over Oshkosh and platteville.

REALLY.

You won't watch Nationals because of a couple teams who couldn't even make the top 5 in their region? Really?
Unfortunately was not there or any other regional this year. Just saying when so much talent is omitted from nationals it dilutes the race.
Let's call it how it is. The Midwest, in all honesty, probably deserved 10 teams this year, though I realize the committee would never do that. Augustana had repeatedly beaten St. Thomas who got in via the central. I feel terribly for teams like Oshkosh and Platteville who could legitimately have contended for top 10 spots and won't even be going, not to mention teams like Stevens Point, Chicago and Augie who could be legitimate top 20 teams. The talent in Wisconsin merits discussion of whether they should have a region all to themselves or not... The system is broken. Representation of all regions dillutes talent. Period.
Why does d1 and d3 have this at large system, but not d2? I was not aware d3 did it this way.
I agree that another team or two should have gotten in from the Midwest, but your judgement on where they would land in the national landscape is laughable. legitimately. Period.

ummmmmm no. They would not contend for top 10. Don't be absurd. Also, if you can't finish in the top 6-7 in your region, then you can't complain about not going to nationals. This isn't pre-school, not everyone gets a medal.
Augie got beat by Wartburg who isn't even ranked and got 7th in the central region. Augie is definitely a legit top 20 team. Put the crack pipe down dude

I think the Mideast is better than people think this year. 5 runners broke Bobby Over's course record and the cutoff for all region was 30 seconds faster than it was on the same course in 2012.
You are missing the point. Are you saying each team that got in for the at large can beat Oshkosh and Plateville? No, they can't. Especially Oshkosh. They should bring the top 16 teams in the nation who didn't qualify automatically.
The Midwest had the #1 and #2 ranked teams in the nation, along with other ranked teams. So you are saying UWL doesn't deserve to go because they are only the #5 team in the nation?
Is it really that hard to understand?
What teams would you take out to put Platteville and Oshkosh in?
The Wisconsin state schools being d3 is bull anyways. They have three times the undergrad enrollment that most other d3 schools have.
Right... XC is 100% about times. Years can definitely be compared to one another. The mideast must be amazing this year.
Alternatively, did you consider that the Mideast champion barely beat Oneonta at Oberlin? Oneonta got 5th in the Atlantic (a weak region this year) and probably wasn't very close to even making NCAAs.
That said mideast champion then crushed NYU one week later at UAA's, who finished right behind Oneonta at regionals... so maybe they just peaked at the right time (aka conference and regionals)...
