going four deep in the Great Lakes - and they are all Wisconsin, and their #1 and #7 were Sophomores... -
The only 2013 Foot Locker finalists on this list are Hardy, Hardwick and Templeton.

And Dan Curts from Iowa State. -
Knight, the true freshman from Syracuse, did not run (rested). He surely would have been top 15 in his region.
-
Dan Curts from ISU is a true frosh, 30:16 in first 10k!
-
Sorry for the Curts oversight. Hope he keeps up the high Maine standards set by Bruce Bickford, Colin Pedie and Ben True.
-
Interesting to see that there are only 2 Africans on this list...

Is this the same Gilbert Kirui who won a crosscup even in Belgium in 2012 as an 18 y.o.? If it is, then I'm not sure we should count him as a true freshman
Bennie is a RS freshman
Deluca is a true freshman. -
For the sake of comparison here are the women's stats:
South Central 6-12-13
Mid West 7-11-14
South 17-20-24
South East 14-24-26
North East 10-23-27
Mountain 1-11-13
Mid Atlantic 5-9-11
West 3-4-13
Great Lakes 13-27-29
Pretty similar placings to the men with the noticeable exception being the Mountain win by New Mexico's (RS) Alice Wright. There may have been more if some didn't decide to do the pro thing. -

Pienaar is a South African. I see him being closer to a Brit than an African. However, you are right, he is from Africa, so yes, that would be 3. Not sure if I qualify him as a true freshman. He is not a RS freshman in XC, since he only started University in January, so this is the first time that he could have competed in XC. However, he has been running with the a university for over 10 months... -
Pretty ignorant trash. Pienaar would clock you upside the head. He's a pure African and proud to be African. Nothing British about him.

Pienaar is a South African so he is African, period. I am a fellow South African (white if you are curious) and I consider myself an African and actually take it as an insult if you think I am a Brit. If you choose to use your ass backwards reason he would actually be closer to Ducth than a Brit being as though his family are of Afrikaans heritage.
He is a frosh regardless if he has been competing since January and as the title says, TOP FROSH. -
Calm down. When he is talking about Africans he is talking about East Africans. You know the ones that dominate the distance world? Last time I checked when people are referring to those "Africans" that steal all the white man's glory they aren't referring to South Africans....

No trash intended here. He ran great. He also seems to be progressing really well in So. Al., which is great.
What I meant was that he may be closer to being a European from a genetics point of view than being a Kenyan or Ethiopian for example...
Not taking anything away here from South Africans. That was never the intent... -
BTW: the other 2 "freshman" in Pienaar's (born in 1995) region...
Tobin (Ireland), who was born in July 1994, also ran track for the University in 2014, so it's not his first season racing for the team either.
Guillorel (France) was born in Jan 1994 (but I believe that it's his first season with the team). He will be 21 in a couple of months. -

It will be interesting to see who the top finishers will be on Saturday. Probably not going to see 3 in the top 10 like last year (1. Cheserek, 8. Saarel, 9. Tiernan).
