He ain't superman, he's human just like me and you. He will bounce back, but he will also have his downfalls. Running is always a learning experience for us all you just got to know how to deal with situations that are thrown at you.
Yes, unless he starts working with Mark Hadley this week. Coach Hadley's website taught me all I need to know about training and I'm confident it could save Cheserek's season.
If I am his coach, I tell him to shut it down on the home stretch if need be. Not that much time between now and NCAAs. A 400m sprint at the end of a long race 8 days before your next race could make the difference between winning that next race and not.
Maybe Ches made an effort to win it and couldn't. However, if its me, I shut it down, if I am his coach, I tell him to shut it down.
You are joking, right? Ches was in 18th place half way through the race, working to keep his team in a pack. Then at the 3/4 mark, he had finally moved up to 7th place, still running in a team pack. Korolev was the only one in the entire field who felt he had to sprint to get the win in a regional qualifying meet. Big man, Korolev must think he is. It will be a pleasure to watch him fold up at NCs in eight days. Ches is still the King.

Don't be a d!ck. Ches definitely cruised but there is no reason to hate on Maksim.

In the entire field? Um....the entire field didn't have the chance to sprint for the win. While Cheserek taking a team-approach and not sprinting his ass off at the end is a perfectly normal tactic, it seems absurd to criticize someone for trying to win a race. You really think that he will "fold up at NCs" because he sprinted at the end of a race?
Let's be honest, after 9.6 K of racing, you will be trashed the next day no matter what happens the last 400. Good for maksim for gutting it out.
If he wins the big one, nobody will care that he lost the regional.
Cheserek is definitely just cruising. He saw massage therapist Dr. Michael Allison, MD, LMP yesterday for some tightness in the thigh, but he's not hurt and he will win nationals!
Cheers!
I've worked with Dr. Allison before and I'll tell you, he's the best. Thorough, talented, and was a sub 4 minute miler back in the day. He'll get Cheserel ready to explode!

The distance of the race has nothing to do with feeling thrashed. A race effort is a race effort.
No hate for Maksim, just stating a fact that by letting his ego get to him, he just locked in his fate to under perform in the race that means something in 8 days. My pleasure will come from watching Rosa, Jenkins and Ches blow by him.
Yes, no one has ever run well at NCAAs after winning their regional meet *smh*

You realize Maksim won the North East Regional Last year and then finished 3rd at Nationals? Maksim is at his best in rough conditions, I dont think he'll fold in Terre Haute.
He's done.
You've never run a 'thon, have you?

Nice to see that at least ONE person understands what goes on in these races. Regionals is not a place to seek individual glory, but rather to work as a team and advance.

Yeah cause a 400 leaves you feeling just as tired the next day as a marathon
That's why the have marathon qualifying the week before the Olympic final.
And 1 point helps your team score better than 3rd or 4th bud.
