I was pretty surprised to see him show up today. I talked to him afterward and he said that it was his first XC race since 2009. Great to see him healthy and running strong.

Holy crap, that must be a dreadfully slow course. 4.4k at 5:45 pace.
It's great to see Wheating. This looks like a fun meet for post-collegiate guys!

The top 6 went the wrong way, which ended up being the right way. Don't ask how that makes sense. For the rest of us, the course was short before the first mile. I still expected it to sort itself out later in the race, thinking the mile marker was just off. Then suddenly we were finishing. I was disappointed because I was reeling in the woman in front of me, then ran out of room before I'd expected.
That sucks. I hate it when this kind of stuff happens.
He was back again yesterday. Won another Portland XC race at Pier Park
Read about him on the LRC front page a few weeks/months ago. What\'s his plan? 2016 qualify? what event?
If not, would he move up to the marathon to earn some pay days?
A few U of O kids on that list as well, those not going to nationals of course.
Easy to cheer for Wheating. He's a real personable guy.
Has he declared himself back again?
Good to see Wheating giving out a Beating again. Future American GOAT.
tRg now is 28...how time flies. Is there a little nikebaby in the near future plans?

Why is this a surprise. it's doubtful nike is going to extend his contract after years of partying. This is a desperation maneuver on his part.
Trying to recapture what worked for him in college? Seems like a last ditch effort.
Andrew Wheating is awesome
