I read the LRC discussion about Nelson vs. Tamango and the writer is clearly confused or else did not take the time to proof the article. I think the argument being made is the course was longer and slower when Nelson ran it. Which means when Tamango ran the course was shorter and faster.....I have no idea, nor do I care how long the Mt Sac course is. Comparing cross country times on a changing course over time seems silly. What I will say is this. I ran competitively in the 80's, but the depth of talent and number of fast kids now is way beyond anytime in the past. This is a great young generation of distance runners on the scene these days, and Tamango is one of them. I can't wait to see the Footlocker final.
