Hey, I don't have any computer or web design training so I may be an idiot on how to do it right.
I just designed a site that I really like to use and made it generic so others may want to use it as well.
It's got links to the most used websites.
Links to a bunch of news sites.
Links to the major banks used for online banking.
The top email sign ins.
Shopping, travel, food, cars, sports.
I think there are 500 or so direct links on the first page.
Letsrun is there (under the sports tab), IAAF, USATF.
You don't have to type anything to get to these places.
Anyway, it's just something I threw together that I open and leave up all day to check on things.
Congrats, you made the equivalent of a bookmarks toolbar.

But a pretty big bookmarks toolbar that you don't have to manually create on every new computer or device that you use.
Along with some selected news headlines and other gadgets on the same page.
my bookmarks toolbar carries over between each of my devices. It's called chrome. And it is free.
So what you're saying is that you have something that use created by someone else that you like and that I have something that I use that I made that I like.
Both free.
Hey bub, you were the one thumping your chest about your stupid webpage to begin with.
Do you have to pay for web hosting and domain name or is it on my third party host that either has ads or is crappy?

Please fix this. It's really, truly not hard. You will get more repeat visits, lower bounce rates and more time spent on your site. That means more pageviews for advertising. You will make more $.
I'd also rip and replace the message boards with a modern BBS. But that's another rant.
We probably should have a college page.
We do tag articles and external links so in theory all your college stuff is here:
http://www.letsrun.com/college/but it's not really presented as a homepage and we don't link to it from anywhere.

The OP probably didn't take a class unless he was at a tech school. Instead, he learned to do a little CSS after copying and pasting from someone else's work and now he's an expert.
I've actually made a living developing and managing B2C and B2B sites / apps for 20+ years. Also spent a lot of time in social media, adtech and digital media sales. I'm currently a CMO of a mid-sized B2B software company.
So, while I don't consider myself god's gift to the web, I do know what I'm talking about.
I'm an enthusiast because my son is a distance runner for a D1 program. I've come to love XC and track & field.
All I'm suggesting is some basic organization. I think daily relay does a decent job:
http://dailyrelay.com/.
lrc would organize it's content differently, of course. But it should organize it's content. That's really all I'm saying.
Didn't know about the tagging. I'll definitely use that feature in the future.

Wow, 20+ years developing sites? Considering the first publicly available browsers came out in early 1993, you're really an internet pioneer, hmm? What commercial entities were developing sites back then, I wonder, and what was the target market?

Just keep the "no registration / random handles" policy. I like the totally random threads and comments out there.

Add a non running related section. Pretty, pretty please
Maybe a Jamin only section while you're at it.

I don't know why I bother answering, but here goes...
I was at AOL, developing some of the initial e-commerce sites on the internet. It wasn't even the internet back then, actually. AOL ran on a X.25 dialup network.
Target market varied by site, obviously. But, they were all AOL Members.

So you're the guy who sent me all the AOL CDs....
Me too. Were you at headquarters? I was the Dir. of web development in the early 1990s. What's your name.

I loved those things! I hung them in my trees to keep the pteradactyls away!

I was in the incubator unit at Netscape Navigator.
