Hi Everyone,
I've read that Kenyan and Ethiopian runners focus on bodyweight training/plyometrics.
Anyone have any information the specifics or a link to a source that describes the types they do?
Thanks in advance,
Joe

I know that some runners (Wilson Kipsang) spends SOME time in the weightroom lifting weights, same goes for some of the 1500 metre runners. Even though he is not Kenyan, Haile Gebrselassie lifted weights once a week (even though he hated it)
Paul Tergat said that he did a lot of work in the gym doing high reps with light weights moving slowly through each rep. His theory was that he was targeting slow twitch muscles that way. Wanjiru claimed that he did no strength training. He would do hilly cross country runs for strength training.
Thanks for the info and links, guys -- much appreciated!
Thanks,
Joe
Plyometrics are great for building leg strength and improving speed. If you're looking for plyometric exercises here's a good library: http://homegym-exercises.com/plyometric_workouts_exercises.html
