Carmen Graves, the woman who beat Merielle is a former D3 All American. Looks like Graves is a rising star in professional running. She ran 9:47 in the steeple at USATF last June.

Bet you Hall makes $50,000 from Nike and Carmen doesn't get paid a penny. Cruel business. Where is Hall training now?
The girl was a 400 meter runner/long jumper as a freshman, then 800 meter runner for a few years. It doesn't look like she got into distance until senior year and after college. I'm surprised to see her beating someone like Hall although Hall doesn't appear to be in great shape right now.

Pat, I would like to buy an "en" and an "ed".
She is being coached by Carl Blickle, who coached her throughout college but has since moved to a different university. She also played soccer in the fall during college.

First off, Carmen is no slouch and pros are on a completely different time table than NCAA athletes. Most pros view XC as training and don't tapper for meets.

She was offered spots throughout the country, but didn't want them.
Hall is making more than 50k, more around $110,000 if not a little higher.
Graves has trimmed down quite a bit in two years.
