after hearing Renato talk about max out sprints on hills, short in duration with long recoveries, I've started adding them in after some of my easy runs. I wondered if anyone else noticed changes when they added them and what these changes were?

how short in duration?
10-12 seconds
No, 7-10.
I added them to my training program last track season.
prs went from:
2:10 to 2:00
4:41 to 4:32
Although I also increased my training in general, the hill sprints were definitely a part in my prs coming down.
Hill sprints are a thing of beauty. Do them. You will become much more efficient at all speeds. Not to mention they are fun!
Just make sure you aren't tired when you do them--legs need to be fairly fresh to get the full benefit since you are teaching muscles to fire properly. At the end of a distance run is fine, but not a workout or a long run. Pretend you are a sprinter.
