well I think mitochondrial stuff is inherited from mom, i suppose that might count as a running gene, anyone know?
Distance running gene is from the mother.
You have exactly 50% odds of getting any of your dad's genes, and the same for mom.
It's not just about getting the running genes, it's about getting genes that turn out to be running genes when combined with other genes, the elements of which combination you might inherit from different people.
But it's even more about when and whether those running genes are expressed and anti-running genes are suppressed. I happen to have more marathon-going genes than Wilson Kipsang and Dennis Kimetto combined, unfortunately few of them are active at once and they were counteracted anyhow by the 180-pounds-natural-weight gene.
50% by nephew and 52% by granddaughter.
If you don't get a Y from dad, you're not breaking 2:15

I know at least one thing you didn't study in college

Strength/sprinting genes= father

Damn. You didn't activate the 800 or Marathon genes. How are you for 100m genes?
Did you activate anything useful?

Is this actually how you think it works, or are you making a joke?
