What is the best ever for SUU at XC regionals?

Did SUU ever make it to NCAAs in their program history?

This is only a surprise to people who are not familiar with the Big Sky conference or the mountain region. SUU has been recruiting very well the past 2 or 3 years. They gave NAU a good run for the conference title last year and have been competitive around the west the last couple of years. I had them ranked in the top 25 this year and was just waiting for them to officially make the national ranks which after today, they will.

Having said that, they are still not a contender for a top 10 spot at Nationals. They beat ranked teams, but not the heavy hitters. Once they get a win over Oregon, NAU, Colorado or Oklhahoma State then you can raise your eyebrows.

SUU is doing amazing this year. Let's remember that only 1 runner (Levins) has broken 14 minutes outdoors (at 5,000m) in the history of the program. So speaking about beating Oregon is not really relevant, since it's an impossibility.

Making it to NCAAs would be a great achievement.

Bringing in Hungarian istvan Szogi, who is still a junior and comes into the program with a 14:11 PR is quite the catch for them.

I hope that Jewkes, Tate, Szogi... keep improving as the season progresses and I would love to see them at NCAAs. I really believe that they have a shot at participating (not beating Oregon... ).

It's nice to see another Big Sky team being competitive on the national stage besides Northern Arizona. I'm pretty confident SUU will be there at nationals this year. They may just sneak in, but winning this meet is really going to help them get in. The Big Sky Conference Championship may be interesting. In the past NAU has the luxury of resting 2 or 3 of their top runners for regionals and nationals and still winning by comfortable margins. This year NAU may not have that luxury with SUU being a threat to take the title if NAU doesn't bring their A game.

Why is it so hard for people to spell O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A today?!

The mountain regional is LOADED. Basically we know colorado, BYU, Northern Arizona, and probably New Mexico will make it. Then colorado state, air force, and suu will battle for the remaining spots. Its almost unfair how stacked this region is.

SUU is a very small school.
