World XC is distance running. The best in the world lineup in a single race and run on natural terrain and a single winner emerges.
The Brits want no part of it - unless they think they can win.

Although the A+ standard is dumb, Canada is a small country, so it's not reasonable to expect them to have lots of world class runners anyway. Not clear that it's made any difference.

Just accept it - the sport is 100% CHOCK FULL of dodgers. Bolt, Bekele, Mo, Haile, and Yes, even the golden boy Rudisha clearly stated he didn't want to return to racing until he was back into top shape. Every last one of them is the same, not a single one of them is innocent. The mentality of dodging is deeply ingrained in runners, whether it's running away from lions or avoiding playing football. It always has been full of dodgers, it always will be.

Hmmm, yes. I do, in fact, realize that. And yes, the "giving up before you start" attitude has been around long before Bart (or cartoons, or television, or technology ...). But it's still the Bart (and Homer) Simpson way of coping when people see that there are others who are better than they are in any particular walk of life.
Maybe it's an attempt to get the likes of Mo Farah, Andy Vernon, Thomas Farrell, James Wilkinson, Jonathan Mellor, Luke Caldwell, Nick McCormick, Rory Fraser to run XC instead of the second- or third-tier guys they've been sending. They have lots of guys capable of a top 30 finish but none of them run. Not anymore.
