What is that 5k thing? Is this like a JV race?
I'll see if I can make it out. Would be a lot easier on a Saturday.
Some field! O' course, teams are looking to pick up points that they can use to get to D1 Nationals.
I'd be betting on Oregon. They have a lot of top miler types to go along with Cheserek, so they should do very well in a 5K race.

New NCAA rules don't allow 5k races for men to count towards getting " points". Has to be 75% the race distance.
Why aren't the Oregon Women running???? I would love to see Oregon A team versus Michigan and G-Town :(
Anyone know of any live coverage of the races?
The women's race is 5k, not 6k

Mike Mahon often supplies play-by-play for FP races.
Prov #1r on the women's side isn't racing. Men could be good?
Info courtesy of the Cornell website:
The men's 8K race on the Franklin Park course will begin with a shotgun start at 3:30 p.m.

Syracuse (No. 8 Nationally; No. 1 Northeast Region)
And although that's a stellar men's field, I'd say the women's has it beat (again, info from Cornell):
The Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, hosted annually by Boston College, figures to be one of the most competitive meets of the early season. Six nationally ranked teams will make appearances at the event. No. 1 Michigan, No. 5 Georgetown, No. 14 Syracuse, meet host No. 17 Boston College, defending national champion No. 18 Providence, and No. 25 Dartmouth will all send runners to the historic Franklin Park cross country course. . . .
The Northeast Region will be heavily represented, as ten of the top-15 and nine of the top-10 ranked teams in the region will send runners to the event. No. 1 Syracuse, No. 2 Boston College, No. 3 Providence, No. 4 Dartmouth, No. 6 New Hampshire, No. 8 Harvard, No. 9 Stony Brook, No. 10 Columbia and No. 13 Connecticut will all be in attendance. Cornell checks in as No. 5 in the Northeast heading into the competitive run.
In addition to the litany of competitive Division I teams, the field also boasts Division III power Johns Hopkins. The Blue Jays are the defending Division III national champions and are currently ranked No. 1.
. . .
The women's 5K race on the Franklin Park course will begin with a shotgun start at 3:00 p.m.

What is a Shotgun start in an XC meet?
What is a Lipscomb?
starter stands 30 yards behind runners with a shotgun. Discourages dawdling.
Are they starting at 3pm to actively discourage spectators? Even most high schoolers - assume they get out of school at 2:30-ish - can't make the women's race unless their school is in Boston. It's a great meet, but why not start an hour later? People could sneak out of work, more high school teams could get a bus in to watch. The meet could be a real event.

That area is also used by hs athletic teams. My guess is the races need to conclude before scheduled hs activities there.
