Methylprednisolone. Very common stuff.
He didn't apply for a TUE for a glucocorticoid? Or, as they are also known, a glucocorticoSTEROID?
Clearly, he didn't even ask.
More b.s. from a mush-mind.
If lying, he should be out at least a year.
If telling the truth, he should be forced to re-attend primary school.
How old is this guy? And he doesn't know to report, or even ask about, prescription medication? Sure he knows.
Zero respect. Either he's a doper, or he's a colossal moron.
Both get ZERO RESPECT.
Moron. WTF is the matter with these fools?
USADA is a joke.
Another PED abusing American sprinter what else is new.
SG, I sure hope you know the difference between an anabolic steroid and a corticosteroid.
I am amazed how many people love to mention that either they or their pet is "on steroids" as if they are going to turn into Ben Johnson.
If he is acting like a tool with his car at his training facility it's obvious he is a bit of a himbo, so this is all par for the course. The next step is bankruptcy.....
Get a freekin' TUE for everything you are given by a MD even if it's OK to take out of competition (it might not clear as quickly as the MD thinks).

Methylprednisolone isn't going to help you train or improve your sprint times, in fact has about opposite effect you want - not anabolic, its overall catabolic.
It\'s ridiculous that cortisone is on the banned substance list. I take corticosteroids for rheumatoid arthritis, and the idea that they enhance performance is laughable. All punishment should be waived and WADA should just let athletes use it if they are stupid enough to think it\'ll make them stronger.
I think cortisone is allowed out of competition and only requires a TUE if you compete when it's in your system. He should have known better.
Cortisone isn't a PED in the same way as anabolic steroids, but it is/was widely abused by cyclists.

To their detriment.

yes that is the reason the out of comp test was clean. They do not screen for it because it is OK to have it in your system. The second in comp test caught it. We should note the in comp a few days before was cleared as clean.
Just how did he think that a corticosteroid was going to help him break the mile world record??? I am very disappointed in him right now.
This is why I am all for a zero tolerance policy. I am tired of these lame excuses about not getting a TUE or a tainted supplement. It is all cheating and the policy needs to be clear and treat it all the same so that we don't keep reading about these "mistakes." Enough is enough.
Is there an American spinter who is not doping?

Not entirely correct. Prednisone does have a documented anabolic effect, but a minor one. So there is reason for WADA to ban its use without a TUE. But you don't even know if Spearmon took the prednisone in pill form, or if it was in an injection that he might not even have known the contents of.
If you want to cheat, it's simple enough to get IGF-1 LR3 and HGH from bodybuilding sites (unfortunately).
Toxoplasmosis is/was incredibly common in some parts of Europe. If you're using that as evidence of anything, you're being silly -- not to mention the fact that other things can knock down your immune system. Overtraining?

The reasons for some supplements aren't always that straight forward. Some complement others, some mask others, and some people just don't understand. Tons of people thought it was ridulous when Marion tested positive for EPO and claimed it made no sense and her false positve was really false. Turned out it was a prescribed drug in their cheating regimen. Not just for distance runners.
SG is imbecilic, the difference is beyond his comprehension.
