With a 15:11 5k last spring and 4th at USAs, I'd say she has as good a shot as anybody to win NCAA XC this fall. Jordan Hasay came close but was never quite able to pull it off. Cuffe doesn't have the greatest kick but hopefully she will have the strength to break some of the other women earlier in the race. Although she does have superior 5k and 1500 PRs to Emma Bates and Kate Avery so perhaps she would have the best chance if it comes down to a late kick..

I get why most people have listed Bates as the favorite but I would put my money on Cuffe.
Bates, man... Or the girl from Iona. Or Shelby ohouilihan or whatever from Arizona State. There are about 3 other serious contenders. Just depends who is feeling the best that day.....

Looks good to me. Last chance was Jordan Hasay. Jordan's competition in her last three years of college were filled with foreigners. She lost twice to a canadian (Sheila Reid) and then finished third to a Kenyan (Betsy Saina) her senior year. In three years she lost first place in a total of 2.9 seconds. With this all-american line-up cuffe has a shot at it.

Top colleges give jobs to most of their students. Ever heard of a job fair? Especially with a Biology degree, Aisling Cuffe is set for life.
Going to Stanford is not going to "college". Stanford is Stanford.
I like her calm demeanor in all of her interviews. She seems like she's got a great head on her shoulders. Definitely will be rooting for her.
She broke Abbey D outdoors, and ran 15:11, a time only 2 collegians have run faster than. These women run 6k. Last year Cuffe hung back and closed really hard at NCAAs. She was running her best race for the team while Bates and Avery were there as individuals and went out hard. This year Cuffe will run from the front like she did in every race her senior year of high school.
Houlihan is the only girl in the field to beat Cuffe last season on the track in a distance event, but it was in a tactical 5k. She is definitely a wild card, but they will race at least 3 times this season. In XC, Houlihan has yet to prove she is better than Cuffe.

I think you severely overestimate the demand for a bachelors in Biology. You'd need an advanced degree or a minor or a ton of internship/research experience to pull off a job with just that.
I like Cuffe's chances but Abbey wasn't Abbey outdoors.
She has a good chance to win.

Literally 100% of the bio majors I graduated with had jobs or were accepted to grad school before graduation. That's 62 from a good school. Stanford is better than a good school. A biology degree is plenty to "pull off a job" if you're smart and hard working.
