I just got out of college and really want to pursue some fast times while working full time, so I'm going to try mid distance and get into a training group (1:48ish is my goal for this year). The reason being is because my job is 5 am to 2 pm and I won't have time to double and I will on and off my feet, so a lot of volume is not an ideal option.
I just want some opinions on what to do.
I would like to peak for an indoor meet in mid February then again in mid June. Would it be best if I did 1500m indoor then 800m outdoor, or vice versa?
If it helps, I come from more of a mile/5k background, but have shown some potential with mid distance with distance training. I'm not sure if I should build more aerobic then switch down, or do more leg speed first then go up. Anyone have success doing it one way of the other?
Any training advice would also be appreciated!
