The marathon the same day was pretty historic as well.
The leader collapsed on the track finish line, not realizing the marathon finish line was a different spot, and never raced again.
They had a rule back then that you couldn't drink during the first 10 miles of the marathon.
Imagine if a WMM put that rule in place now. If runner's couldn't drink for the 1st 10 miles, would things change? Would people run slower?
