Hey guys,
So i have a track meet this saturday and unfortunately both the 1,500 and the 5,000 are scheduled for the same day. I decided to run both.
1500m is scheduled for 10 a.m, and 5000m is scheduled for 4.30 p.m so I have time to recover.
My goal is to run 4:14 and 15:59. I trained very hard for that, but unfortunately I got sick with a flu and spent 3 days without running this week.
now i feel better and i'd say for saturday i should be almost 100% recovered.
here are some of the trainings i've done last month. My question is: based on these trainings, can i expect the 4:14 / 15:59?
1x2000 (6:11 - 3:03-3:07) + 8' rest 1 x 500 (1:22) (both were hard but not full efort)
2x1600 (4:58 - 5:08 w/ 200m jog rest + 200m jog + 2x800 (2:30 - 2:29) w/ 200m jog rest)
5 km (Should be a tempo but was a bit faster): 16:47
10 x 400 / 50~55s rest: avg: 69.1 (last 67.5)
4 x 800 / 200m jog rest: 2:27 / 2:28 / 2:28 / 2:26
13 miles / avg: 6:25
8 miles / 45:50 w/ 3:20 for the last km
6x1000 w/ 1'rest: avg 3:13
I should also mention that two months ago I raced a 10k in 34:10 (hilly course probably equivalent to 30s faster if flat) and I feel am in better shape now.
can i expect to achieve both of my goals, and if not, which one would you focus based on trainings above, the 4:14 1500 or the 15:59 5k?
thanks!
