I was thinking about running a marathon 3 years ago because I was running times at longer races that indicated I would be near 3 hours. For a couple months leading up to the 30k I was averaging 30 miles a week on 2 runs which usually included a race each week. I decided if my 30k time indicated a sub 3, I would run a marathon. I ran a couple marathons years ago but was not in that good of shape when I ran them. My fastest was 3:08.
I ran a 30k in 2:06:00 which is 6:45 pace. McMillan says that is equal to a 3:01. I decided not to run a marathon.
