I've looked on the link and on the facebook page. I admit that I could be missing something but I couldn't find where this meet actually takes place.
Even if I missed it- it shouldn't be tough to find.
Is it:
Univ of Mich
Mich St
Eastern Mich
somewhere else?

The meet is actually at Saline High School just outside of Ann Arbor

Both races look stacked! The atmosphere is going to be awesome.

US T-Mobile CEO, John Legere, just upped the prize purse after seeing how strong the fields are. $24,000 up for grabs now.
$5,000, $3000, $1750, $1000, $750, $500 for 1st-6th in each of the two races.
Such a great example of someone using their wealth and success to help lift the sport they love! Thanks, John. -
Love these small events. Good going, Nick!

dafuq y arent they doing a womens mile, womens 800, mens mile, mens 800? seems kinda odd and lopsided...
-
What is the standard conversion from 1500 to mile? Looks like they just tacked on 17.0.
Most of those converted times on that list probably should have been rounded to the next second. -

The standard conversion is 1.08 (per TNF News).
I'm sure ventolin has something that involves a combination of functors, Lie algebras, and Riemannian geometry, but 1.08 works for most people. :) -

It was just a men's mile, decided to add women's 800 this year. I'm sure it will continue to grow. -
Missy is not the same as Miss E.

Wow, how the heck is this a "track classic" when it only has two events? Maybe rename it the mighigan mile or something like that. Doesn't look like a track meet to me. -

just using a web calcuator
a 3'30 guy may have 800 speed varying from 1'40 to 1'46
3'30 with
1'40.0 -> 3'48.01 -> 1.0858
1'41.0 -> 3'47.79 -> 1.0847
1'42.0 -> 3'47.56 -> 1.0836
1'43.0 -> 3'47.33 -> 1.0825
1'44.0 -> 3'47.11 -> 1.0814
1'45.0 -> 3'46.66 -> 1.0793
standard "1.08" is too low
the geometric mean of above is
1.0829
around that is a good start -
Who's your top three? I got:
1. Willis
2. Heath
3. Merber
Maybe swap out Merber for Brannen, they seem pretty evenly matched so far this season but it's hard to bet against Brannen with his history. -

Brannen isn't running. -

I've got Wilson, Uceny Beckwith for the 800
Willis, Heath, Ulrey for the mile. (I like ulrey) -
It would be nice to see some high school races as well. Similar to the Falmouth Mile they host the night before the Falmouth road race, with a men's and women's elite mile, as well as a boys and girls high school mile. It doesn't cost much more from an meet director's standpoint because you don't have to pay them prize money.

We have chosen not to have HS races for a couple of reasons.
1) The HS track season well and truly finished by August, and I don't agree with racing year round. It's much healthier for the HS kids to have a break in the summer, and do some easy mileage before the xc season
2) Our goal is to attract the general sport's fan as well as the track fanatic. We feel the best way to do this, is to keep the event as short and action packed as possible. We will only expand the number of races when we have the resources to add high quality world level runners in these.
ultimately, we feel 5-6 races is the sweet spot, and will aim to reach this in a couple of years. -
Good enough reasons for me. Either way, I'm looking forward to it and I hope the MTC will help set an example for meet directors around the country. We could use more events like this one.
