Back up and consider that in 2016 Fisher will be in the same position as Ben Saarel and Sean McGorty are in 2014. Those two are eligible for this year's Juniors but they aren't here because they are preparing for xc season.
If Saarel and McGorty aren't participating in a Juniors held in the US, is it really going to be "ideal" for Fisher to go to Tartarstan in 2016?
Probably not. Fisher's greatest chance for lasting success is to commit himself to the mileage necessary to succeed at NCAA xc and at 5000m and up on the track.

I didn't watch the race, but for those who did, what did you think of the live music during the 10km?
Solid racing by Patrick Joseph. I was impressed with his kick at USA Juniors, too bad he came up just short here at Worlds. I would have liked to see him mix it up in a truly fast race.
I'm looking forward to following him in the coming years. Does anyone know anything about his background. It looks like he is from VA.

I didn't really notice the music during the race, just the rhythmic clapping by the crowd after each lap. By the way, props to Nakatani for running hard from the gun, I thought he had a slim chance to pull a Coburn, but the African mafia glided right by him.
Tenorio w100m heats DQ and subsequent timetrial run-off
In heat 3 she was given a 162.7 for a -0.494 reaction,
Replays do not show much/any movement.
She took the red card and left. A protest was later filed and a special runoff against the clock was the remedy. If she ran a time shorter than the then current little q time she was in. Tenorio ran 11.27 in her end of meet solo timetrial.
The q was 11.78 for Herrera-Abreu heat 5 and she was displaced by Tenorio's new little q in the semi.
BUT had Tenorio elected to run in heat 3 under the run under protest provision (and her protest up held) she would be given her position in the heat(assume she got large Q as expected-Qs were 11.60, 11.75 and Telesford 11.81 in h3) dropping Telesford to a non-q position and giving Herrera-Abreu the longest q at 11.78 and a lane in the final.
The pure idea of "Hey Mary race you to the corner? " of our sport gets complicated when we mix the metrics that quantify success .
Do not get me started on qualifying by time in windspeed races, the three semifinals idea and advancing fewer athletes from a preliminary section than the number of medals awarded in final

Missing World Juniors for a college cross country meet 4 months later is a bad decision all around.

Disappointing for both. Southerland ran well short of her capability. Imali collided from behind with Rogers in yesterdays heat 3, who wasn't the same after that.
Henriksdottir can run 2 flat. I wouldn't rule her out.

I'm sorry, but what about the 10k was embarrassing to watch? I know everyone in that race was competing to the best of their ability and to have someone say it was embarrassing to watch is just disrespectful. I really don't like the letsrun attitude of people insulting others behind their computer screens. Why can we not congratulate runners and praise everyone's ability rather than try to down play what they did? I feel that anyone on here has no right to criticize an athlete for under-performing. Why can't this message board be a place of positive encouragement? This is so prevalent in the running community, but seemingly lacking here.

Whitney did almost the same exact thing but was able to walk the field down. It is a good they are talented enough to overcome mistakes and that their bad race happened in the rounds. Washington is very lucky, normally an 11.7 want get you into the finals and wouldn't even win some state meets.
