A pic with 100m to go and the clock beside it makes me think that Kiplagat's last 100m was very close to 12.0sec. Thoughts?
Anyway, if he can sprint the last 100m of a 3:27 like that, he has a sub 3:26 in him.
Discuss.

Are you sure it was 100m to go, and does the clock show 1/10ths of a second?
Kiplagat's kick is extremely impressive, and it's not unheard of for high level 1500s to close that fast for the last 100m--see last year's WC 1500m final, for instance--but 12 *flat* to finish a 3:27 race would be truly astonishing.
no
~ 13.2
however, his last lap was
53.9 !!!
he didn't even look tired after !!!
he is definitely in < 3'27 shape if he can get ideal pacing to bell in a race set-up for him
he will need to split 2'32-flat/low instead of 2'33.7 which is "only" 3'29.6 pace
Yeah he looked amazing. His form, everything. And, apparently, thanks to some info from a Renato Canova post on these forums today, apparently his training system was inadequate, explaining his [relative] mediocrity in recent years, but he's putting the pieces together now, apparently.
skuj may be many things, but a "kid" isn't one of them.
If he runs just a 55 last lap and 3:29 does it mean his pacing was ideal?
No.
His pacing was fine for his fitness, his muscle type and the circumstances of the race.
You f'ing nerds are awesome. A bunch of 4:30+ dorks talking trash back and forth about a guy who is approaching the WR. I'm sure he's devastated to not have your input and advice. Please go upstairs and have mom fix you some nachos, and stop pretending you understand the adult world.
The usual letsrun retards have infiltrated another thread.
See the pic halfway down the article with the clock at 3:15.6:
In retrospect that MAY be 90m to go, not 100m. So perhaps the last 90m in 12.0 IF the clock is accurate (and I'm willing to accept it may not be 100% official timing). Thoughts?
I thought Kwemoi's last 200m looked impressive and I bet he has more improvement in him than any of the others.
that the third runner is at the 100m to go mark in that photo. Little white lines mid lane.
On standard track classI configurations the convolution of the bend and the straightaway is about 84 meters from the finish line.

Then look at the staggered marks in the adjacent lanes. If it were 100m, there would be a solid 100m start line. Those are exchange zone markers.
Those field clocks are not the official timers either, they can be significantly off. Don't trust them.
I called it!

Probably another case of an idiot thinking the end of the exchange zone is 100 meters from the finish rather than 90.

Honestly...
Does that look ANYTHING like the 100 meter start line to you?
I have him at 3:15.7 on the 100m line

No! That's the 90m from home line! The end of the exchange zone for the 4x100m. Look at the line he is above at 3:14.4 of the race. That is the 100m line.

That is OBVIOUSLY 90 to go. Have you ever been on a track??
Thoughts?
1. 12.0 * 10/9 = 13.3.
2. Ventolin is smarter than you.
3. Silas Kiplagat will break the world record in the next three seasons.
Kiprop only lost because he had the balls to go for the record
You could tell just by watching the race it was nowhere near 12 flat without bothering to time it
Hey OP, look at Usain Bolt's final 100 in this race. Looks like about 1.9 seconds on the clock at that very clearly 100 meter to go mark, which means he covered the last 100 meters in 7.7 seconds! Wow!! He must have a 7.5 in him.
actully it does.
